Travel Tips
The following are air travel tips to help enhance your air travel experience:
- AIRPORT ARRIVAL -- Arrive at the airport for your flight one hour and 15 minutes prior to your scheduled departure.
- ITEMS PROHIBITED IN CHECKED BAGGAGE -- lighters, matches, explosive material, flammable items, jewelry, cash and electronics. Place valuables in carry-on baggage only and tape your business card to the bottom of your laptop.
- ITEMS PROHIBITED IN CARRY-ON BAGGAGE -- box cutters, knives, razor blades, scissors with pointed tips, bows and arrows, golf clubs, pool cues, guns, ammunition, drills, screwdrivers, tools, torch lighters and lighter fluids.
- ITEMS PERMITTED IN CARRY-ON BAGGAGE -- eyeglass repair tools, nail clippers, diabetes-related supplies and equipment, nitroglycerine pills and prosthetic device tools and appliances. Liquids, creams, gels and/or aerosols in containers of 3 oz. or less are permitted in a clear, transparent and resealable quart-size plastic bag.
- MEDICATION -- If you must travel with medication, it is recommended that you place it in your carry-on luggage in case your checked baggage does not arrive at the same time you do.
- WRAPPED GIFTS -- Do not pack wrapped gifts or bring them to the security checkpoint. Wrap on arrival or ship your gifts prior to departure.
- SURGICALLY-IMPLANTED MEDICAL DEVICES -- If you have a surgically implanted medical device, check with your doctor prior to travel to determine if it is safe for you to pass through the medical detector or be handwanded. If not, request to be hand inspected by the screener.
- REQUIRED TRAVEL DOCUMENTS -- You may use an unexpired state-issued driver's license OR an unexpired state-issued photo identification card OR an unexpired passport OR an employee identification card issued by a federal or state government agency for identification for domestic (U.S.) travel. A valid passport is now required for all international travel. In addition, a visa may be required for travel to certain international destinations.
- MINORS TRAVELING ALONE -- Travelers under the age of 18 are not required to present identification for domestic (U.S.) travel. Identification from the sponsoring adult will be accepted on behalf of minors. The minor's birth certificate, school ID with photo or social security card is also accepted for identification. Minors traveling alone should have at least two (2) of these forms of ID.
